employers and the career center

Thank you for your interest in recruiting our students!  We are the centralized recruiting source at the University of Oklahoma, and are here to serve your needs in job posting, career fairs, and on-campus recruiting.

build your brand

The Career Center offers a holistic approach to developing a lasting brand for your company on campus.  In addition to the on-campus recruiting program, opportunities to build your brand include: the Corporate Partner program, workshops, presentations, information sessions, employer spotlights, resume´ critiques, mock interviews, and more.  As a centralized career center office, we can connect you with students across all majors, enabling you to fulfill your recruiting goals in a highly streamlined process.

We utilize the Handshake recruiting platform to connect you with our students.  If you haven't already done so, you can create your Handshake account by clicking here.  Please contact our office at 405-325-1974 if you have any questions or issues regarding registration.

Are you looking to turbo-charge your presence at OU?  Becoming a Corporate Partner connects you with powerful branding opportunities to increase your visibility on campus.  As a Corporate Partner, you gain access to exclusive marketing opportunities, early-bird reservation privileges for booking on-campus interviews, priority placement at career fairs sponsored by our office, and much more. With a helpful staff to assist, you can be confident that your sponsorship will earn results for your organization and provide much-needed support for our students and alumni.

Through our Speakers’ Bureau, employers can hold ‘office hours’ in the Career Center to visit with students on a walk-in basis and critique their resumes.  We also hold mock interviews for students on a by-appointment basis that employers can sign up for as well.  Contact Associate Director Rick Dubler at rdubler@ou.edu and take advantage of these opportunities to connect in-person with top talent.

The Career Center offers professional development workshops for students throughout the year on several topics, including professional dress, how to work the career fair, interviewing techniques, and more.  Through our Speakers’ Bureau, we give employers the opportunity to present at these workshops as content experts, which gives them a forum to interact with a built-in audience of students.  If you would like to join our Speakers’ Bureau and be considered for workshop presentations, please contact Associate Director Rick Dubler at rdubler@ou.edu.

During the On-Campus Interview seasons each semester, many employers hold invitational Information Sessions prior to their interview dates to give their candidates a closer look at the company and their open positions.  The Career Center manages the logistics for these events through Handshake, and you can make a reservation by logging into your employer account.

If you’d like to hold an event to present your company’s brand to students prior to a career fair or during the offseason of recruiting, then an Employer Spotlight is for you! These events differ from Information Sessions because they can be booked year-round, and are typically advertised to larger populations of students (rather than exclusively to interview candidates).  Employer Spotlights can be set up through your Handshake employer account.

We welcome recruiters to post full-time jobs and internship roles on Handshake. However, the following types of jobs will not be approved, nor promoted through our programming and events:

The Recruiting Offer Guidelines were created by the Career Center to establish equitable time- frames for students and employers in the fall recruiting process at OU. It is in the mutual best interest of our students and employers to allow adequate timeframes for students to make information-based and experience-based employment decisions. Doing so requires the opportunity for students to explore a full range of employers before making a commitment. Our hope is that these guidelines will enhance the recruiting experience for both students and employers, as well as minimize instances of reneged offers.

PLEASE NOTE: These guidelines do not prohibit employers from extending early offers. They are also not intended to discourage students who have clarity about their options and are ready to make a decision from accepting an offer early-on in the recruiting process. The OU Career Center subscribes to the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE) Principles for Professional Practice for all recruiting practices, and encourages all employers to familiarize themselves with the NACE advisory opinion on setting reasonable deadlines for job offers found here.

Select third-party recruiters –including agencies, organizations, or individuals recruiting candidates for employment/internship opportunities other than for their own needs –may post positions at the University of Oklahoma; however, they may not engage in interviewing, informational interviews, career fairs (without prior clearance from the Career Center), or any other type of on-campus recruiting activity. Third-party recruiters must disclose information as follows:

  1. Provide the organization/company name for which they are hiring
  2. Will disclose information upon request to Career Services that would enable verification that it is recruiting for a bona fide job opportunity.
  3. If the organization/company has already posted the position in our database, the third-party we will not duplicate the posting.
  4. Third-party recruiters may not charge applicants any fees.

We help your students find the right fit. We help students determine the right career for their interests, career goals, skills, values, and personality. During their academic careers, students use the Career Center to develop essential job-search skills. We are a student's best resource for job outlook, salary, and employment trend information.

Parking can be a challenge on campus, but we have identified multiple options for your convenience.  When coming to the Career Center for On-Campus Interviews, you may park in the attached Union Parking Center as our guest.  Please bring your parking ticket in with you so we can validate it.  If the garage is closed for a special event on the day of your visit, we will provide a visitor pass for you, as well as directions to additional parking areas.
