Collective Planning and Leadership for the U.S. Army

Laboratory experiments with student participants and computational models, including agency based models and simulations, tested theoretical linkages and dynamic relationships among the model variables. Results supported the collective leadership and collective planning models, providing insight into how collective members should interact to effectively formulate collective-level plans; illustrate how leaders should structure collective interactions to obtain the expertise needed for developing and executing multi-level plans; identify which cognitive strategies are more likely to contribute to effective collective leadership and planning; and provide a foundation for future training initiatives for facilitating collective leadership, planning, and performance in U.S. Army collectives.
