Daillin Perez is from Fort Worth, Texas where she completed her Bachelors of Science in Chemistry with a minor in Biology at the University of North Texas. During her studies, she participated in several research projects under the direction of Dr. Teresa Golden. One significant research project was focused on studying the structural characteristics of 250 synthetic opioids, 212 of which were fentanyl-related compounds using Travelling Wave Ion Mobility Mass Spectrometry (TWIM-MS). This project addressed the overwhelming epidemic of various fentanyl opioids found in illegal and illegitimate drugs, which vary in potency and dosage. This project has been submitted and is under review for publication (Structural Analysis of Synthetic Opioids Belonging to the Fentanyl Class using Travelling Wave Ion Mobility-Mass Spectrometry (TWIM-MS) Karen A. Reyes, Daillin L. Perez, Lilly T. Ngo, Rebecca Demmelash, Ariana M. Mancilla, Haley A. Castro Under Review, (2024)). With this project, she attended the ACS Meeting-in-Miniature at East Texas A&M University.
