Deacon Herndon is originally from Tulsa, Oklahoma, where he attended Bishop Kelley High School (class of 2019). After that, he attended the University of Tulsa (class of 2022), where he earned his Bachelor of Science in chemistry with a minor mathematics. Deacon’s current research interests center around physical organic chemistry and the synthesis of difficult to access, or novel chemical scaffolds informed by modern computational chemistry. He first became interested in chemistry after taking organic chemistry II during his undergraduate and being fascinated by the puzzle that each molecule presents. Every organic molecule begs the question “how could I be synthesized?” After graduation, Deacon plans to pursue an industrial position in a synthesis group within medicinal or agrochemical industry.
