Electronics/Machine Shop

Electronics/Machine Shop

We support the Department by working with Faculty, Staff, Post Docs, Graduate and Undergraduate students that work with scientific research equipment used in the department for research and teaching.

When there is a problem with equipment we have a Trouble Report (treport) form that can be completed (make sure to save/download the blank form to your computer first) and submitted to us by sending it to eshop@ou.edu. This will enter the request into our queue of work. When you fill out and properly submit the treport form it starts the documentation process giving us a date, contact person, location of the equipment, description of the problem and the name of the person responsible for the bill of labor and parts. It is important that the treports be filled out to the fullest so we have the most information available to us and your repair is not delayed due to the lack of complete information. When your treport comes up in our queue we will get with you and coordinate the repair.

If you are working on a project and need to borrow a tool, come see us, we are the keepers of many tools and can loan them to you.

Do you have an idea but are unsure how to proceed because it is out of your area of expertise? Come on in, sit down and let’s talk about it. We are full of many things, and ideas are just one of them.

If you are comfortable with your idea and would like to construct part or all of it, the Machine Shop is available for you to use with conditions. The number one condition in the shop is that everyone’s safety is everyone’s goal.
