I am a historian of North America and Native America, with particular interests in the politics and diplomacy of the Native South.
My first book project, tentatively entitled "Captains and Community: Power, Diplomacy, and Interdependent Sovereignty in the Choctaw Nation, 1700-1860" examines the various ways that Choctaws understood, debated, and legitimized power between the early eighteenth and early twentieth centuries.
At OU, I teach classes on Native American history, American history, and the American West
