KJ LeFave (she/her) is a second-year MA student in History at the University of Oklahoma, where she serves as a graduate teaching assistant for the pre-1865 U.S. history survey. Her work investigates the evolution of how Great Lakes Indigenous women participated in 19th century legal systems pre- and post-removal. She focuses primarily on the roles women played in shaping treaty processes and how their participation overtime reflected shifts in both settler and Indigenous legal cultures. She is advised by Dr. Cori Simon, Dr. Anne Hyde, and Professor Carla Pratt (University of Oklahoma Law School).
A proud Badger, KJ earned her Bachelor of Arts in History from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, along with minors in American Indian and Indigenous Studies and African American Studies.
