Teresa Rodriguez is a second-year PhD student in the history program at the University of Oklahoma. She is from Harlingen, Texas in the Rio Grande Valley. She earned her bachelor's degree in history and a minor in museum studies at Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas. Her research interests include U.S.-Mexico Borderlands, Family, Childhood experiences, Catholicism, and Education history. Her MA thesis in history (from OU) centered on the De la Torre family who lived in the border region between Arizona and Sonora during the Cristero War. Her thesis argues that Catholic parents in this period raised their children to sacrifice their comfort, safety, and life to defend the Catholic faith. This past summer she volunteered at the David and Barbra Pryor Center for Arkansas Oral and Visual History and did part-time work at the Charles M. Russell Center at OU. She is currently preparing to take her comprehensive exams in the spring semester of 2027.
