Welcome! We are in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry that is housed in the Stephenson Life Sciences Research Center at OU in Norman, just south of Oklahoma City. We are also part of the Price Family Foundation Institute of Structural Biology. Our work focuses on the biological inorganic chemistry of the simple nitrogen oxides NOx, and we pay special attention to the interactions of these NOx species with Fe-containing heme proteins and model hemes. We combine synthetic inorganic chemistry, protein biochemistry, and structural biology to examine how the iron center in proteins directs the physiological effects of nitrogen oxides.
