I am interested in how cosmic structure emerged and evolved, with a particular focus on how galaxies form and acquire their observed properties across cosmic time. Galaxies are extraordinarily complex systems, shaped by many interacting physical processes operating across a vast range of spatial and temporal scales.
Our field is entering a particularly exciting era: by looking back toward the first galaxies and revealing unexpectedly rich galaxy populations, JWST has challenged us to explain how the first galaxies formed so rapidly, and how they connect to those observed at later times. With a new generation of observatories on the horizon, including Roman, Rubin, the Extremely Large Telescope, SKA, PRIMA, and the ngVLA, we need detailed models more than ever to understand these complex systems.
I use numerical simulations, theory, and synthetic observations to uncover the physics that drives this evolution. My research focuses on magnetic fields, radiation, cosmic rays, feedback, turbulence, and the multiphase interstellar medium, and on how these processes interact to regulate star formation, galactic outflows, and the evolution of galaxies within the cosmic web.
