Amanda Rutherford is the Henry Bellmon Chair of Public Service and Associate Professor in the Department of Political Science at the University of Oklahoma. Her research focuses on issues of personnel management, decision making, and representation in educational institutions and the U.S. federal government.

Rutherford is a Public Management Research Association board member and past Midwest Public Administration Caucus President. She serves on the editorial board of the Journal of Public Administration Research and Theory and Research in Higher Education. 

Her research has been published in academic journals including Public Administration Review, the International Public Management Journal, Public Administration, Stata Journal, the American Political Science Review, the American Journal of Political Science, Research in Higher Education, and Educational Researcher. Her research has also been covered in media outlets including Inside Higher Ed, the Chronicle of Higher Education, the Indianapolis Star, and the American Society for Public Administration.

Prior to joining the University of Oklahoma faculty, Rutherford served as Professor and Chair of the Governance and Management faculty at the O'Neill School of Public and Environmental Affairs at Indiana University-Bloomington and Coordinator of Research and Strategic Development for Recruitment Services for the University of Oklahoma.
