Ellen Rubenstein received her PhD from the University of Illinois and her MLS from Indiana University, and joined SLIS in 2011. Her research primarily focuses on access to health information, information behavior, and public libraries. She was recently PI on a large grant (with partners from OU, University of North Carolina, Greensboro, and Wayne State University) from the Institute for Museum and Library Services (IMLS, Grant #LG-18-19-0015), Community Health and Wellness: Small and Rural Library Practices, Perspectives, and Programs, where she and her team looked at how small and rural libraries address health and wellness through their programs and services.
Dr. Rubenstein has presented at numerous national and international conferences, including the Association for Library and Information Science Educators (ALISE), the Association for Information Science & Technology (ASIS&T), the iConference, the Association for Rural and Small Libraries (ARSL), among others, and has published in a number of top-rated LIS journals. She teaches on both the master’s and doctoral levels on information behavior, reference services, information literacy, and research methods.
