Dr. Jason Harris earned his BA and MA in History – Museum Studies from the University of Central Oklahoma and his PhD in History, with an emphasis in public history, from Oklahoma State University. His doctoral research looks at preservation efforts and public interpretation of the American Civil War by the Oklahoma Historical Society, a state agency, from its inception in 1893 through the end of the Sesquicentennial in 2015.
Dr. Harris has more than 20 years of field experience in museum education and management. He has a lengthy record of working with state and regional museum associations and facilitating collaborative partnerships amongst organizations. He currently serves on the board of directors for the Oklahoma Museums Association and Mountain Plains Museums Association.
