Dr. Manika Lamba is an Assistant Professor in the School of Library & Information Studies at the University of Oklahoma. Before joining the University of Oklahoma, Dr. Lamba was a Postdoctoral Research Associate at the HathiTrust Research Center in the School of Information Sciences, University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. Her research sits at the intersection of knowledge organization, social computing, and critical AI studies.
She examines how knowledge is organized, represented, discovered, and accessed across scholarly and digital information systems. She uses large language models, natural language processing, and machine learning alongside user-centered methods to study how people create, share, and encounter knowledge through digital platforms and to develop more inclusive, and accessible information systems.
Dr. Lamba’s research has received support from the University of Oklahoma, Princeton University, National Science Foundation through a microgrant and the Innovation Corps (I-Corps), Association for Information Science and Technology (ASIS&T), and Summer Institutes in Computational Social Science (SICSS).
In addition to publishing scholarly articles, she had authored a book on Text Mining for Information Professionals: An Uncharted Territory with Springer.
