Professor Emeritus Scott honored with Achievement Award


Congratulations to Wil Scott, Professor Emeritus of OU Sociology, who was recently honored with the Morris Janowitz Lifetime Achievement Award! This award is presented by the Inter-University Seminar on Armed Forces and Society to a senior scholar whose career has most demonstrated excellence in the study of armed forces and society and important service to the discipline. Dr. Scott served in the Vietnam War before attending graduate school, and as a professor, Dr. Scott taught and did research in the areas of Political Sociology, the Military and Society, the Sociology of Violence and War, and the Sociology of Veterans' Issues. Upon retiring from OU in 2006, he continued to teach and do research at the U.S. Air Force Academy in Colorado until 2019. OU Sociology joins the Morris Janowitz Lifetime Achievement Award in celebrating Dr. Scott and his distinguished career research and teaching contributions.
