Congratulations to the 2021 Undergraduate Student Award Winners!

The Department of Sociology at the University of Oklahoma recognizes its outstanding undergraduate students with two awards and three scholarships. The Helen Riddle Outstanding Senior award for Academic Excellence  is presented to a student who has demonstrated excellence in their course work. The Sociology faculty will nominate sociology majors with senior standing and winners are selected from the general sociology major and those who are pursuing emphasis in criminology. The award is made possible through the generous donation of Helen Riddle.

OU Sociology is invested in training our student in Sociological/Criminological research, and the Outstanding Undergraduate Research Award is presented to an undergraduate student who has demostrated excellence in their approach to producing impactful research. The Sociology faculty nominates students who are pursuing meaninful research and the award winner is decided by comittee.  Congratulations to this years winners:

The David T. Wright Memorial scholarship is given to a sociology major who are serving or have served in the U.S. military or who are planning a career in the military, law enforcement, or public service. This award is presented in honor of David T. Wright, who was killed in action in Afghanistan, while serving his country.
