Dr. Meredith G. F. Worthen has joined efforts with the Federal Correctional Institution located in El Reno, Oklahoma to promote awareness and education about LGBTQ diversity. FCI El Reno is a medium-security United States federal prison for male inmates which houses about 1,000 inmates. Dr. Worthen has been working closely with Adam Ebacher, the Diversity Instructor at FCI El Reno, to put together LGBTQ educational resources for the prison’s employees. In addition, Dr. Worthen will also host a workshop focused on LGBTQ diversity in September 2021 for Diversity and Inclusion Day at FCI El Reno.
Fun Fact: Barack Obama visited FCI El Reno in 2015 and in doing so, he became the first American president to visit a federal prison.
