Welcome Professor Annabel Ipsen!

The department of sociology is proud to introduce the newest member of our faculty, Assistant Professor Annabel Ipsen! Professor Ipsen will join us in Spring 2022 from Colorado State University where she was an Assistant Professor. Prior to her work in Colorado, she held two postdoctoral positions as a Fulbright scholar in Mexico and at the North Central Regional Center for Rural Development at Michigan State University, having completed her PhD from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2016. Dr. Ipsen studies development and inequality at the nexus of food, environment, and the law. Her current projects focus on the sociopolitical struggles surrounding genetically modified corn, meatpacking labor during COVID-19, and gender, work, and inequality in Chile. Her research has been published in leading journals such as Sociological Perspectives, Law & Society Review, the Annals of the American Association of Geographers, and Environmental Sociology.

Please join us in welcoming Dr. Annabel Ipsen to OU’s Department of Sociology. We are so happy to have her as part of our intellectual community!
