Please join us in congratulating OU PhD Candidate Darci Schmidgall who just officiallly accepted a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in the Department of Sociology and Anthropology at West Virginia University. Darci had an excellent academic job market, with over 10 flyouts and multiple job offers. Ultimately Darci wanted the opportunity to work in an R1 department with a PhD program in sociology and so WVU was her top choice. Darci is our second student off the market this cycle (Shurtliff, Wingate) and joins OU PhD canidates Abby Young, Rin Ferraro, and Kyle Callen from the 2024-25 in landing a tenure track position. These accomplishments occured in what has been among the worst job market year since COVID due to recent political attacks on higher education. Darci is the thrid OU PhD Student to land an R1 professorship in the past 5 years, joining Abby Young (also at WVU) and Josh Davis (University of New Hampshire).

So please join us in congratulating Professor Schmidgall on this tremendous accomplishment and opportunity!
