Dr. Murray has nine years of experience working in higher education, most recently serving as the Director of the Women’s Center at Ohio University. Passionate about both teaching and faculty development, Geneva co-led the creation and execution of the inaugural Inclusive Pedagogy Academy (IPA) at Ohio University, which created inclusive teaching checklists, recommended syllabi language, and provided workshops for the campus. In this role, she presented resources from IPA at national and state-wide conferences and in consultancy with other universities. Additionally, she founded the Women Leading OHIO program, an early career faculty and staff development cohort, which provided professional mentorship for participants.  In recognition of these and other efforts, Dr. Murray was recently awarded the Coalition Builder Award from the National Women’s Studies Association in 2021 and the International Leadership Association’s Women and Leadership Affinity Group’s award for Outstanding Practice with Local Impact in 2017.

In addition to her administrative experience, Dr. Murray also has a diverse teaching portfolio, having taught first-year experience courses as well as both undergraduate and graduate courses in Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies, Education, and Higher Education programs. She also created the first designated service-learning course at Ohio University.

Dr. Murray has a PhD in Women’s Studies from the University of York (UK), an MA in Public Policy with a Concentration in Women’s Studies from George Washington University, and a BA in Sociology from Texas Tech University. She is also an Associate Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, UK and has a Professional Instructional Design Certificate from Ohio University.
