Requesting to mail I-20 to someone else
The US Student and Exchange Visitor Program (SEVP) requires our office to issue the I-20 directly to the student (or their legal guardian or F-2 dependent). We cannot issue the I-20 to a third party. If you are requesting that your I-20 be mailed to someone other than you, your legal guardian, or your F-2 dependent, ISS can contact SEVP to request an exemption.
Examples of reasons for exemptions include:
- Students who are in countries where U.S. courier services do not operate.
- Students who are in areas with inadequate infrastructure or services that make deliveries generally difficult or would be unsecured.
To request an exemption, please complete this form: Request to Mail I-20 to Someone Else. ISS will then submit the request on your behalf. Because these requests are being decided by SEVP, this may take about 1-2 weeks. (During the Coronavirus pandemic, this may take longer.) If you have not received a response after 2 weeks, please email email@example.com to check the status of your request.
