November 9, 2022: The Farzaneh Family Center for Iranian and Persian Gulf Studies, with the Institute for US-China Issues and the Center for Middle East Studies, co-sponsored a talk with Ambassador Chas Freeman, Visiting Scholar, Watson Institute for International and Public Affairs, Brown University.

"Leaving Afghanistan: Fowzia Karimi on Her Family's Flight and Her Art"

On October 25, 2021, the OU Center for Middle East Studies, Farzaneh Family Center for Iranian and Persian Gulf Studies, and World Literature Today hosted a discussion with Fowzi Karimi, a writer and illustrator, on her novel Above Us the Milky Way. Moderator is CMES/Farzaneh Family Center Director Joshua Landis.

On September 15, the Farzaneh Family Center for Iranian and Persian Gulf Studies sponsored this talk with Saleh Sahabeh Tabrizy, OU Price College of Business, as part of its fall lecture series.

On March 11, 2021, The Farzaneh Family Center for Iranian and Persian Gulf Studies hosted Ali Vaez of the International Crisis Group. Vaez and College of International Studies Professor Joshua Landis spoke about the Biden administration's policy toward Iran and the Middle East.

The Farzaneh Family Center for Iranian and Persian Gulf Studies at the University of Oklahoma hosted Kaveh Madani of Yale University on February 11, 2021, for a discussion on the role of politics, development policies and mismanagement in the environmental challenges facing Iran and the larger Middle East.

Dr. Joshua Landis, Director of the Farzaneh Family Center for Iranian and Persian Gulf Studies and the Center for Middle East Studies, was interviewed on BBC Persian on February 15, 2021.

On January 28, The Farzaneh Family Center for Iranian and Persian Gulf Studies hosted this discussion with Vali Nasr (Majid Khadduri Professor of International Affairs and Middle East Studies at the Paul H. Nitze School of Advanced International Studies, Johns Hopkins University) and Gregory Gause (John H. Lindsey ’44 Chair and Professor of International Affairs at the Bush School of Government and Public Service, Texas A&M University) on the politics of Iran and Saudi Arabia and Biden administration's foreign policy towards each country, moderated by Joshua Landis.
