First-Generation CIS Student Scholarship

The First-Generation CIS Student Scholarship awards two scholarships annually IAS majors or minors who are first in their family to attend college. Applicants must write a 500-word essay as part of their submission. The essay should discuss any obstacles or challenges the student has faced as a first-generation student, academic goals and interests, and any experiences or achievements through which the student has demonstrated a determination to succeed at the University of Oklahoma.

Scholarship applicants must meet the following specific criteria:  

  • Must be a full-time, regularly enrolled undergraduate student with a declared major or minor in the David L. Boren College of International Studies
  • Must be a first-generation student as defined by OU guidelines
