First Generation CIS Student Scholarship

The First Generation CIS Student Scholarship awards two scholarships annually IAS majors or minors who are first in their family to attend college. Applicants must write a 500-word essay as part of their submission. The essay should discuss any obstacles or challenges the student has faced as a first-generation student, academic goals and interests, and any experiences or achievements through which the student has demonstrated a determination to succeed at the University of Oklahoma.

Scholarship applicants must meet the following specific criteria:  

  • Must be a full-time, regularly enrolled undergraduate student with a declared major or minor in the David L. Boren College of International Studies
  • Must be a first-generation student as defined by OU guidelines
