Faculty Award

The William W. Talley, II Faculty Award is given every spring in odd numbered years and honors a faculty member for excellence in teaching and academic service to students in the Department of International and Area Studies.  Faculty receiving the $2,500 award will not be eligible for consideration in consecutive competitions.

Criteria for the faculty award:
(Next award Spring 2021)

  • Recognizes an outstanding faculty member in the Department of International and Area Studies
  • Faculty must be nominated by an International and Area Studies student 
  • Students wishing to nominate a faculty member must complete the nomination form and include a letter of endorsement regarding the excellent service of the faculty member.

Student Award

The William W. Talley, II Student Award is given every spring in even numbered years to an undergraduate alum of the Department of International and Area Studies who is currently enrolled in (or has been admitted and plans to attend) the master's program in International Studies (MAIS) at the University of Oklahoma. The Award amount is $2,500.

Criteria for the student award:
(Next award Spring 2022)

  • Recognizes an outstanding student who has graduated from the Department of International and Area Studies and will be or is currently enrolled in the MAIS program at the University of Oklahoma 
  • Currently enrolled students in the MAIS program must not be graduating to be eligible
