  • Warning Decision Training Division

As an instructional meteorologist at the NWS Warning Decision Training Division, Alyssa serves as the R2O/O2R liaison, working with NSSL researchers and others to show experimental tools and techniques to the NWS field before they become operational. She also manages the creation and maintenance of online training modules and references for Multi-Radar/Multi-Sensor (MRMS) products.

Her small team develops training on MRMS products designed to help NWS forecasters make hazardous weather warning decisions. Additionally, she serves as an investigator for a NOAA Hazardous Weather Testbed experiment designed to test a new severe weather warning system in hopes of developing best practices and preliminary training plans for future NWS warning operations. Her other interests include severe weather and warning decision-making, communication of weather information to vulnerable populations, accessibility, and the research-to-operations/operations-to-research process.
