After finishing her academic career at OU in meteorology, Alyssa transitioned to the private sector for a year and a half working as a radar analyst for wind farm developers. Alyssa then realized she wanted to serve the public in a greater capacity and found the CIWRO position at the Warning Decision Training Division (WDTD) to be a perfect fit. Hired in November 2023, Alyssa works as a meteorologist instructor at WDTD to develop online modules for the Warning Operations Courses that cover a wide range of the National Weather Service's (NWS) warning products and decisions including winter and severe weather, flash flooding, and human factors. She also develops online modules for the Radar & Applications Course and helps instruct the 1-week workshops as the finale of this course at the National Weather Center. Besides from her primary job duties she enjoys participating in outreach activities hosted by WDTD including school visits and career fairs.
