Antonio (Tony) R. Segales, native from Paraguay, joined CIWRO in 2021. He has been a Research Scientist with the Cooperative Institute for Severe and High-Impact Weather Operations and Research (CIWRO) at The University of Oklahoma since 2021. He works on developing custom uncrewed aerial systems (UAS) including sensor integration specifically designed for weather research. One of his outstanding achievements was the design and engineering of the CopterSonde UAS for severe weather applications and research. He also works on the calibration and validation of fielded weather radar systems using UAS. His research interests include the control theory of dynamical systems, UAS design and integration, embedded systems programming, CAD modeling, and dynamics of the planetary boundary layer.
Dr. Segales is a member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), the Association for Unmanned Vehicle Systems International (AUVSI), and the American Meteorological Society (AMS), emphasizing his research efforts to the implementation of UAS for a variety of applications.
