About

Kevin Thiel is a Research Scientist for OU CIWRO, working as the Storm Prediction Center (SPC) and Hazardous Weather Testbed (HWT) Satellite Liaison. His job includes testing experimental satellite products with NWS forecasters in NOAA's Hazardous Weather Testbed, enhancing the use of satellite-related products in SPC operations, and conducting satellite-based research with regards to severe weather. Kevin received his Meteorology PhD from the University of Oklahoma, studying forecast applications of a space-based lightning mapper. Previously, Kevin received his Meteorology M.S. from the University of Oklahoma, and his Meteorology B.S. from Ohio University.
