My name is Kristofer Tuftedal and I work with the Phased Array Meteorological Studies Team (PAMST) as a CIWRO research scientist. I work extensively with dish (i.e., WSR-88D, SMART-R, NOXP) and polarimetric phased array (i.e., Raytheon's SKYLER-1 and -2, NOAA/NSSL's ATD) radar systems to analyze convective severe weather processes. My primary research focus thus far has been on radar-based climatologies of deep convection and supercells.

  • Tornadogenesis, maintenance, and dissipation processes
  • Supercell dynamics, kinematics and microphysics
  • Radar meteorology
  • Deep Moist Convection

  • Weather Radar and Observations
