3 sparc servers have been purchased to handle the wide array of network services that need to be provided to a growing software company that is utilizing WAN services across the U.S.

A Sparc Server 20 with a RAID 5 disk array has been setup as a network file server and e-mail server for the corporation.  This server has SAMBA for SMB clients (win95 OS on all PC hardware) and NETATALK  for appletalk clients ( all MAC's) to provide a central, TCP/IP based LAN accessible remotely by Northbrook staff at the same time.  This network server handles a 40 gigabyte drive array on-line real-time- with a 10 gigabyte rotating drive backup system.

A second server has been established as a Domain Name Server, handling all of the ip/name resolution within the corporate network, as well as the routing into the firewall and out to the internet.  This server also has a httpd service setup to provide "intranet" information within the corporation for staff support and assistance.

A third server has been setup outside the corporate firewall in Richardson as a WWW Server and FTP site for the corporation's products.  This server has all services turned off save httpd- disallowing access to this server in all fashion save from the actual console on the second floor of the Richardson complex.
