Internet Navigator...  A Simplified Guide to Netscape GOLD


The Toolbar
A most important tool on the Netscape Toolbar is the Back Button. Located on the upper left-hand corner of the Netscape Browser. The Back Button will sequentially "step back" through the (URL) path you have traveled.

The phrase..., use your Netscape Back button will be used to indicate when there is NO Return Link.

Remember..., the Back button can "look different".  Netscape Toolbar Graphics Only Image

Sometimes..., there there is just text,  Netscape Back Button Text Only Image

or ..., both Graphics and Text  Netscape Back Button Image

Depending on the Preferences of the (previous) User...


The Netscape Navigator Toolbar...
To change the "Look" of the Toolbar (and to give more space to the viewing area)

From the Netscape Toolbar..., Select Options, "click on" General Preferences, then...

Select either Pictures, Text, or Pictures and Text (as shown below)

With the Toolbars Text Option selected...,
...the Tool bar look like this!

Experiment with the different possibilities!


Also..., from the Netscape Toolbar..., Options | General Preferences

Another VERY Important setting..., is Choosing a Homepage.

Netscape will open with any of the following options...

Netscape will open a "blank" Browser.

Choosing a Homepage

Optionally..., you might elect to Start With: the University of Oklahoma's Web Page.

Select Home Page Location (click on the white circle) and type in:

Your Browser will automatically load OU's homepage every time it is launched!

Start With: The University if Oklahoma's Web Page

Experiment with which way(s) you like you Browser set.


While you are using WebStudy..., set your Start With: setting to:

Each time you "click on" the Netscape Toolbar Home Button Netscape will take you to WebStudy


Sometimes it is necessary to go to a location where there is no return link
ATTENTION:  Before you "click on" the What Netscape Says..., Link below..., be sure to locate the Netscape Back Button!
