Dr. Floyd focuses his educational and research efforts on concrete materials and structural engineering, with an emphasis on reinforced and prestressed concrete. His research includes topics in lightweight concrete, self-consolidating concrete (SCC), prestressed concrete, ultra-high performance concrete (UHPC), and application of concrete materials. The ultimate aim of his research is to develop materials and methods that will produce longer lasting structures.

  • Material property characterization and applications of innovative concrete materials
  • Bond of prestressting strands, prestress losses, camber and shear behavior of prestressed concrete members
  • Internal curing using lightweight aggregates
  • Bridge construction, repair, and rehabilitation
  • 2023 VPRP Annual Award for Excellence in Research Grants
  • 2019 University of Arkansas College of Engineering Early Career Alumni Award
  • 2016 Gallogly College of Engineering Teaching Scholars Award
  • 2013  ASCE ExCEEd Faculty Fellowship"
