Industry Engagement

Collaborate with OU DSAI

The University of Oklahoma Data Science and Analytics Institute (OU DSAI) strives to merge the creation and dissemination of knowledge with the development of technologies to enhance the competitiveness of our industry partners and to serve students and working professionals seeking to advance their knowledge and professional opportunities.

Collaboration between the University of Oklahoma Data Science and Analytics Institute (OU DSAI) and industry in the fast-growing field of data science and analytics is the key to the successful transfer of knowledge and know-how from laboratories to the real world. OU DSAI and industry partners can work collaboratively in several ways, including but not limited to the following examples:

Sponsored Research

Industry partners can sponsor research projects involving researchers and students. The corporate sponsor provides funding for a specific statement of work. Deliverables might include reports, software, and test data. All rights, including IP, publication, and confidentiality will require further negotiation.

Industry Practicum and Internship

OU DSAI students seek engagement with local companies through semester-long practicum projects under the mentorship of DSAI faculty. Practicum projects can be completed both on site and off site, and DSAI can help identify students to fulfill industry needs.

Consulting

University researchers work with Industry partners to solve challenging problems.

Professional Development

DSAI faculty can provide industry-relevant curricula to enhance workforce skills for seminars and workshops lasting from one day up to a week in length.

Topics include:

  • Utility Analytics 101
  • Applied Machine Learning
  • Data Visualization with Python
  • Python for Data Science
  • Forecasting for Utilities Professionals (coming soon)
  • New topics can be developed upon request

Federally Sponsored Collaborative Research

OU DSAI faculty will consider collaborative research projects in partnership with industry through the multi-agency Small Business Technology Transfer program (STTR) and many other funding sources. All rights, including IP, publication, and confidentiality will require further negotiation.

Consotrium

OU DSAI is interested in the formation of a consortium that will benefit an industry group (e.g. energy, manufacturing). The consortium members can enjoy the benefits of access to research results, the ability to set the research direction, and the cost-effectiveness of pooled membership contributions.
