With a childhood passion for electronics, Erik Petrich grew up learning computer hardware and software in the early boom years of the personal computer. In 1991, he co-founded Micro Firmware, a company specializing in BIOS upgrades and custom firmware for embedded PCs. He left the company in 1999 to pursue a formal education full-time, completing a B.S. degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering in 2001 and an M.S. degree in Electrical Engineering in 2004. He earned his Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Oklahoma.
