Benjamin Bevans is an advanced manufacturing researcher focusing on data analytics, machine learning, computer vision, fault detection, and microstructural analysis in the Additive Manufacturing (AM) process. Specific research includes the use of wire arc additive manufacturing (WAAM), powder- and wire- directed energy deposition (DED), and laser powder bed fusion (LPBF) processes. Towards in-situ process monitoring and quality assurance, he works with heterogenous sensor data from multi-dimensional sensor arrays to extract physics-based monitoring features. His work on AM quality assurance has been published in Additive Manufacturing, Virtual and Physical Prototyping, Journal of Materials and Design, Journal of Intelligent Manufacturing, and Journal of Materials Processing Technology.
