Alex Riensche is an advanced manufacturing researcher with a focus on process simulation, control, digital twin, and fault detection and prevention in additive manufacturing (AM). His specific research focuses on the laser powder bed (LPBF) process and directed energy deposition (DED) processes. Working towards feedforward control of part quality, he works with modeling approaches in order to control thermal history and digital twin techniques in order to detect and control part properties. His work on AM modeling and property predictions have been published in Additive Manufacturing, Materials and Design, the International Journal of Advanced Manufacturing Technology, International Journal of Heat and Mass Transfer, and Rapid Prototyping Journal.
