The Sooner Advanced Manufacturing Laboratory (SAML) is developing advanced additive manufacturing capabilities supported by digital workflows, materials research, and AI‑enabled qualification. We collaborate with defense, industry, and academic partners to create reliable, scalable, and certifiable manufacturing processes.

These standards help ensure reliability, repeatability, and interoperability for defense and aerospace applications.

Materials

SAML advances research in metals, polymers, fiber‑reinforced composites, and avionics‑related structures. This work includes improving material performance, reducing production timelines, and enabling new AM applications through targeted research and cross‑disciplinary development.

Infrastructure

SAML strengthens the digital, physical, and cybersecure foundation required for modern advanced manufacturing. This includes expanding facility capacity, procuring new AM systems, building compliant cyber infrastructure, and integrating testing, monitoring, and validation equipment to support scalable operations.
