The Gallogly College of Engineering is strengthening its commitment to faculty excellence through the FAST Program (Faculty, Advise, Support, Thrive), a new initiative designed to accelerate the success of early-career faculty and enhance the college’s research and educational impact.
The FAST Program provides a structured, college-level framework to support new faculty as they transition into their roles. The program complements existing university onboarding processes while addressing the specific demands of engineering research and instruction.
Each year, the college welcomes highly accomplished scholars whose expertise aligns with its strategic priorities, including data science and analytics, infrastructure technologies, materials and manufacturing, medical technologies, sensing technologies, and teaching innovation. These faculty members bring national and international experience, strong research portfolios, and a shared commitment to advancing the college’s mission in both discovery and education.
The FAST Program ensures these new faculty can engage fully from the start of their appointments. Through monthly sessions, mentorship networks, and collaboration with academic and operational units, participants gain the tools and guidance needed to build successful research programs, excel in teaching, and contribute to the broader academic community.
With more than 90 FAST participants spanning six strategic pillars, the program is already helping cultivate a dynamic and collaborative faculty community. These scholars support hundreds of active research projects, mentor a growing graduate student population, and drive innovation across disciplines.
As the college looks ahead, its priorities remain focused on expanding research productivity, strengthening interdisciplinary collaboration, and elevating teaching excellence. The FAST Program plays a central role in this vision, ensuring that new faculty are positioned for success and empowered to make meaningful contributions from the outset.
