Information on Becoming a Sponsor

Cost: $13,500

Benefits:

  1. Sponsor can send as many employees as desired to the IASR annual meeting (usually in November or early December). At the annual meeting, students, faculty, and research associates present results of research. Each sponsor can also designate a member of the advisory committee. This committee meets at the end of the day of the semiannual meeting and formulates recommendations on the optimum direction of research in the institute - which projects are worth pursuing and which should be less emphasized.
  2. All publications from IASR are sent to sponsors upon completion. These include theses, dissertations, and manuscripts for journals. Sponsors may request that publication be delayed for a year. With the normal delay in publication of material in scientific journals, at least several years lead time in access to IASR research is normally available to sponsors compared to non-sponsors.
  3. Sponsors are granted a five-year royalty-free use of patents from IASR research as long as they remain sponsors.
  4. Surfactant Associates, Inc. gives a reduction in registration fee for their Short Course in Applied Surfactant Science and Technology for employees of sponsoring companies. Currently, this registration is $2,000 vs. $2,400 for employees of non-sponsors.  Please see https://www.surfactantassociates.com/ for more information.
  5. The faculty of IASR provide up to eight hours per year per sponsor in extemporaneous telephone or e-mail consulting time.
  6. Sponsorship has other intangible benefits.  Company personnel can get to know students as they progress through  their studies and have an advantage in hiring these surfactant-trained students upon graduation. A close relationship between faculty and sponsor scientists can lead to synergism in exploiting state-of-the-art technologies.    Identification of capabilities in IASR can lead to proprietary research contracts wherein IASR personnel can perform research using unique experimental equipment or at a lower cost than can be done in-house.
