First, set up your OU account.

Your OU account (also known as your OU Net ID or 4x4) is your key to accessing OU email, enrollment, grades, course materials, computer labs, OU Libraries resources, and more.

  1. Visit one.ou.edu/activate.
  2. Enter your OU Net ID found in your admission letter (usually the first 4 letters of your last name followed by 4 numbers) and date of birth.
  3. Create a password.

If you need assistance, please call OU IT at 405-325-4357.

Next, complete these steps to schedule your advising appointment.

  • Test Optional Applicants: Students who are admitted without submitting test scores cannot be guaranteed enrollment or placement in any certain course. Following their admissions, test-optional students must either submit test scores showing eligibility (19 ACT or 510 SAT in the subject area of enrollment) or take the required assessments through OU to demonstrate college readiness in a particular subject area. Please sign up for your assessments at iadvise.ou.edu/newsooner/concurrent before your advising appointment.
  • Math & Languages: If you are hoping to take a math course or a foreign language course at OU, you will take an assessment to determine the best course placement for you. For math assessments, please sign up at iadvise.ou.edu/assess. For language assessments, please email LLC@ou.edu to set up a placement exam.
  • Sexual Assault Prevention Training: Students must complete Sexual Assault Prevention Training through their One Account before they can enroll.

To put your Sooner Card on your phone, download and log into the Transact eAccounts app with your OU Net ID and password. You will then need to install PingID to authenticate, and can then add to your phone's wallet.

Before or during the first week of courses, be sure to buy your textbooks. You can buy your textbooks anywhere, but the easiest place to buy your books is online.

Akademos is a fully online textbook store that was selected to be the university’s new provider for textbooks and course materials. Students are able to purchase textbooks and course materials from www.soonerbooks.com.

Students can purchase physical textbooks (new, used, rental) and have them shipped to their home or campus address for free. Students will also have options to purchase digital or eBook. Additionally, Akademos offers a marketplace where students can buy and sell directly from individuals or third parties.
