Per the U.S. Department of Education regulation 34 CFR 668.43 (a) (5) (v) the University of Oklahoma is obligated to disclose whether the educational requirements of programs which customarily lead to licensure or certification either Meet Licensure Requirements or Do Not Meet Licensure Requirements for each state and designated affiliated locations*. The information below reflects, to the best of our knowledge, accurate information about each of these programs.
*Designated affiliated locations are American Samoa, District of Columbia, Guam, the Marshall Islands, Micronesia, the Northern Mariana Islands, Palau, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
Programs at the University of Oklahoma are designed to meet the educational requirements for professional licensure or certification in the state of Oklahoma. Additional licensure or certification requirements beyond education for individual states or affiliated locations are not covered by this disclosure. We encourage students who intend to pursue licensure or certification outside of Oklahoma to determine if there are additional requirements beyond degree completion by contacting the relevant state's licensing/certification body directly. The National Council for State Authorization Reciprocity Agreements (NC-SARA) maintains a Professional Licensure Directory for the five degree programs with the most enrollments per data reported by participating institutions. These programs are: Counseling, Nursing, Psychology, Social Work, and Teacher Education. This resource does not house regulations or requirements; it is exclusively general contact information.
This disclosure is required for all programs that lead to professional licensure or certification, regardless of instructional modality (i.e., online, in person, hybrid, etc.). The monitoring agency for this disclosure also monitors the university's distance education activity.
Student location at the time of initial enrollment into a licensure related program is defined by university policy, the Student Location Policy.
Questions about professional licensure or certification disclosures may be directed to distanceed@ou.edu.
