Byeolbee Um is an assistant professor of Professional Counseling at the University of Oklahoma. She joined the OU faculty in August 2023. She received her Ph.D. in Counselor Education and Supervision from the University of Iowa. As a former elementary school teacher, Dr. Um received her M.Ed. in Elementary Counselor Education and B.Ed. in Elementary Education from Seoul National University of Education. Her research interests include school counselor burnout and wellness, counseling students’ professional identity development, scale validation, school mental health, and first-generation students’ academic and career development.
