Mandi M. McRay earned her BA in English with a focus in Secondary English Education at the University of Science and Art of Oklahoma. She then earned her MA in Composition, Rhetoric, and Literacy Studies at the University of Oklahoma. She is currently a Rhetoric and Writing Studies Ph.D. candidate at the University of Oklahoma.

Mandi has taught First-Year Composition courses and Technical Writing for upper-level STEM students for the English department at the University of Oklahoma. She has also taught Educational Psychology at the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma. She currently serves as the Graduate Student Assistant Director of the OU Writing Center and teaches in the Edith Kinney Gaylord Expository Writing Program at the University of Oklahoma.

Her research interests focus upon the intersection of rhetoric, the body, and identity as well as rhetorical pedagogy in non-traditional contexts and specific subcultures. Mandi’s doctoral work utilizes qualitative methods to explore how oral texts are used in specific US military subcultures.

In her spare time, Mandi keeps busy with raising an active teenager and writing fiction.
