Facilities

The Catlett Music Center is home to the OU School of Music. In addition to the outstanding performance, academic, and research facilities outlined on the School of Music Facilities Page, Catlett features an extensive percussion suite with specially designed rooms for rehearsing, teaching, recording, practicing, and storage. The percussion suite includes 6 practice rooms, 2 large rehearsal spaces, a storage room, an equipment repair room, and 2 offices.

Equipment

The OU Percussion Studio is proud of offer our students an impressive inventory of instruments for performance, rehearsal, recording, and practice. Our students have access to anything they need for the standard ensemble, chamber, and solo repertoire. Highlights from our inventory include:

Four sets of professional timpani (and three sets of practice timpani)
Six 5-octave concert marimbas (and several smaller-range marimbas)
Five vibraphones
Four xylophones
Eight drum sets
Several sets of orchestra bells, crotales, and chimes
An array of concert, drum set, and specialty cymbals
Two full sets of concert toms
Several professional snare drums
A variety of accessories, world percussion, and novelty instruments
A full steel band
