Auditions

All students in the university are invited to audition for the OU Symphony. All musicians audition at the beginning of the fall semester, and wind and percussion players audition again before the start of the spring semester.

Note that if you are a prospective student who wishes to major or minor in music, you will have a separate audition to be accepted into a major or minor degree program. You do not need to pursue a music degree to participate in the orchestra. But if you wish to pursue a music degree, you will complete a degree audition first with your major professor(s), typically early in the preceding Spring semester. Then you will have another audition near the start of the semester for ensemble placement.

Strings Winds and Percussion

The OU Civic Orchestra is a non-audition ensemble which rehearses once a week and performs one concert each semester. For more information, see the Civic Orchestra Website.
