Consider how your songs choices will contrast: Style, Composer, Legit/Belt.
Characterization: Don’t sing two songs where the roles you are embodying and/or stories you are telling – are identical.

Your selection should be age-appropriate without dialect, costumes, or props.
All dance media should be filmed in a “full body” shot, taking care to keep the student’s entire body in the frame at all times.

In other words, “What do you want us to know about you?” and “What makes you unique?”
In addition to the prescreen video requirements, OU Musical Theatre requires:
Every applicant will need to answer the following questions on their Acceptd application (150 words max per answer).
Your application will still show submitted if your recommenders have not completed your letters. If your recommenders have issues uploading their recommendation letters to your application, please have them contact musicaltheatre@ou.edu.
Each piece should be filmed/uploaded as a separate piece of media. No continuous videos.
Record one introduction "slate" video stating your name. If you would like to include your pronouns, state them as well. Please speak loudly (project your voice) and clearly (articulate) directly at the camera. This is an opportunity for the faculty to get a sense of your personality and to learn the pronunciation of your name.
There is no need to slate your individual performance videos & pieces. Instead, clearly label each video with your name and the title of the piece you are performing (see more details below).
This slate video should be no longer than 10 seconds.
Label each video file with the piece you are performing, the show or playwright, and your first & last name.

Examples:
Slate – Idina Menzel
Your Daddy’s Son – Ragtime – Audra McDonald
Much Ado About Nothing – William Shakespeare – Ramin Karimloo
All song, monologue, dance, ballet, and wild card videos are recommended to be between 60-90 seconds each.
We recommend a setup that allows us to see the top of your head to the floor.
We want to see the whole body through the entire dance. When framing your dance selection, watch the video back before your submission to ensure that you've stayed in frame, and that the camera isn't too far away to see details in movement.
After the October 24th and December 1st prescreen deadlines, the OU Musical Theatre faculty will review each prescreen and invite students to attend one of our callback audition dates. Students who participate in the Moonifieds and the College Audition Project (CAP) audition events do not need to attend one of our Spring 2026 audition dates.
You will be notified well in advance if you qualify for a callback with the University of Oklahoma. At that time, a schedule of specific days and times will be provided for you to schedule your audition time with OUMT.
If you are unable to attend the audition date you selected, please let us know as soon as possible and we will try to accommodate. Due to time constraints, we cannot guarantee an audition slot on a different audition date.
