In Mozart’s penultimate opera, the benevolent Emperor Tito is under the threat of a coup incited by Vitellia, the daughter of the former emperor. She has seduced Tito's confidante, Sesto, and convinced him to lead the insurrection. As the Capitol burns, it appears that all Tito's allies are turning against him. Will Tito's reign survive, and can he forgive the conspirators?
