Campers spend the week having fun and learning new things about the world around them. The airport provides opportunities to explore STEM (science, math, engineering and technology) from a unique perspective. In addition to learning things about all kinds of flying birds, campers enjoy rockets, kites and, of course, OU’s fleet of training aircraft to climb in and explore. 6- and 7-year-old campers do not fly.

*Flights will be scheduled sometime between Wednesday and Saturday of the camp week. Many factors go into scheduling flights including safe weather conditions, aircraft and pilot availability, and number of campers in each camp. Our flight department will assess all these factors on Monday of each camp week and begin scheduling flights. Parents and campers will be notified of flight schedules as soon as possible after camp begins.

Please note that occasionally, weather conditions may prevent flights throughout the entire week. In such cases, we’ll work with campers to reschedule their flights for another time during the summer. As always, flights are subject to weather and aircraft/pilot availability. Cancellation of flights may become necessary.

Scholarships

Partial scholarships are available for summer camp participants through a generous grant provided by the Oklahoma Aeronautics Commission.

To be eligible for a scholarship, the participant must be registered for a camp (there is a $25.00 non-refundable registration fee). Scholarships are need-based and applications are accepted between March 1st and May 1st.

When applying for a scholarship, please have the following informaion available:

A Creative Submission can be an essay, video, poem, story, picture, diorama or other creative work that your child appears in or has created in which your child shows or tells the scholarship selection committee why they want to come to camp.

Please be advised that an incomplete scholarship form will not be considered for an award.

Summer Camp Intern Program

Made possible by grant funding from the Oklahoma Department of Aerospace and Aeronautics, Sooner Flight Academy's summer camp intern program is a wonderful opportunity for teens ages 16 to 18 year olds who have attended at least one session of SFA Eagles camp to gain valuable work experience while mentoring younger campers.

The intern program is an integral part of the SFA experience for all of our campers who benefit from being around teen mentors who help the camp run smoothly and bring their own camp experience to the classroom atmosphere.

Those selected for the internship program are required to work at least 3 weeks during the summer camp sessions which includes 1 week of training.

Applications for High School Intern are now closed
