Katerina Tsetsura, Ph.D. is Gaylord Family Professor of Public Relations and Strategic Communication at the Gaylord College of Journalism and Mass Communication at the University of Oklahoma in the USA. Dr. Tsetsura is internationally known for her work in global public relations and media transparency. She is a co-author of “Transparency, public relations, and the mass media: Combating hidden influences in news coverage worldwide” (2017, Taylor & Francis) and co-editor of “Strategic Communications in Russia: Public Relations and Advertising” (2021, Taylor & Francis). Tsetsura has over 80 peer-reviewed publications and presented more than 100 conference papers. Her research areas include global public relations development, ethics, media transparency, social construction of public relations, women in the field of strategic communication, public diplomacy and government relations, and understanding and countering disinformation. 

Currently, Dr. Tsetsura serves as a PI on the OU DISC seed grant to study community resilience to disinformation and as a co-PI on the multi-disciplinary OU-funded Big Idea Challenge project “Carbon-Free Hydrogen Energy Production, Storage.” 

In 2018, Dr. Tsetsura received the Outstanding Educator of the Year award, the highest national award in public relations teaching (from Public Relations Society of America). Dr. Katerina Tsetsura practices what she researches and teaches: she serves as a consultant to companies, governments, and non-profits in various industries. Dr. Katerina Tsetsura is a recognized global expert in measurement and evaluation of donor-funded programs to support independent media and civic society development; communication audit; issues management; strategic planning; sustainability and organizational capacity analysis; and communication campaign’s advanced research, measurement, and evaluation training and monitoring.

Dr. Katerina Tsetsura actively serves the profession of public relations in various roles. Previously, she served as a Chair of PR Divisions of ICA and NCA, a Chair of the Global Affairs Committee of Public Relations Society of America (PRSA), and a secretary of the PR Division of AEJMC. She is a long-standing member of the U.S. Commission on Public Relations Education. Tsetsura serves on a number of journals’ editorial boards, including Communication Theory, International Journal of Strategic Communication, Public Relations Review, Public Relations Education, and PR Journal. 

Dr. Katerina Tsetsura is a member of the Arthur W. Page Society, an invitation-only, professional association that unites the chief communication officers (CCOs) of the world’s largest corporations, CEOs of the leading public relations agencies, and distinguished academics.
