The first man to accurately measure rising levels of carbon dioxide in the Earth's atmosphere, geochemist Charles D. Keeling started the famous "Keeling Curve" record in 1958. The Keeling Curve measures atmospheric carbon dioxide concentrations from the Mauna Loa Observatory in Hawaii.
